Newport, R.I.--Senior second baseman Noelle Simmons (Goffstown, N.H.) went 1-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored as Rhode Island College defeated Salve Regina, 10-7, in the opening game of a twinbill played at Toppa Field on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Despite conceding a first run in the bottom of the first, the Anchorwomen posted six runs in the second as an RBI triple by freshman designated player Lily Bell (Coventry, R.I.) got RIC's scoring going.
 
• However, the hosts tied it up at six apiece in the third as an error by the visitors was the key to the scoring buildup for the hosts.
 
• RBI by senior second baseman Noelle Simmons (Goffstown, N.H.) and junior catcher Brianna Bailey (Windsor, Conn.) helped give the visitors an additional four runs to pull ahead, 10-6 in the
 
• The hosts would get one back in the bottom of the fifth, but great pitching from freshman Mia Crudale (Cranston, R.I.) helped the Anchorwomen secure the win as she notched her sixth victory (6-0).

• Bailey went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while sophomore classmates Joey Meyer (South Milwaukee, Wis.) and Jillian Guilfoyle (Derby, Conn.) combined for six hits (three apiece), three RBI and three runs scored.
