Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Junior guard
Meagan Schuermann (Cooperstown, N.Y.), who missed the club's previous two games, accounted for eight of the team's first 10 points as she assisted on a three and drilled one to put RIC ahead, 19-10, after the first 10 minutes.
Â
• Smith then went on her own seven-point run to lead off the second stanza, but the Anchorwomen's defense told the story, allowing just six UMD points in the quarter.
Â
• The visitors began the second half with six consecutive points, 47-17, before the Corsairs knocked down a trey.
Â
• RIC went into the fourth frame ahead by 20, 57-37, and made quick work of the hosts to close them out for the season sweep.
• Junior guard
Maggie McKitchen (Seekonk, Mass.) pitched in with 15 points and seven boards, while sophomore guard
Jaina Yekelchik (North Scituate, R.I.) contributed 11 points.
