HOW IT HAPPENED
• After the Anchorwomen opened with a 6-3 lead, the visitors went on an 11-4 run to capture the lead advantage after the first 10 minutes, 19-15.

• The Spartans tied it up, 23-23, with five minutes left in the half, but RIC got to work on defense, allowing just four points the rest of the quarter to lead by four, 31–27, at the break.

• Schuermann and classmate
Abby Wager (Mansfield, Mass.) each posted 10 points in the third stanza to give RIC its largest lead up to that point, 58-40, with 44 seconds left in the frame.

• The Anchorwomen snuffed out the Spartans in the fourth quarter they extended their winning streak to five games. RIC has won six of its last seven.

• Wager was spectacular with 17 points, six boards and a pair of blocks to pace RIC.

Jaina Yekelchik (North Scituate, R.I.) netted 11 points on 71 percent shooting from the floor and collected seven rebounds.
