Calif.) combined for 20 kills as Rhode Island College swept Salem State, 3-0, in the first game of a tri-match played at Twohig Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

• The Anchorwomen dominated the first stanza, as the visitors went on a 5-1 run, which included a pair of Marines winners, to take the set, 25-13.

• The Vikings put up a fight in the second period, but back-to-back points from junior outside hitter
Marina Colonis (Waterford, Conn.) and senior middle hitter
Sydnee Pires (Rochester, Mass.) gave RIC the momentum to go up, 2-0, with a 25-22 decision

• A kill by senior right side hitter
Bethanie Jean-Philippe (Cranston, R.I.) tied the third frame at 17-apiece, until the Anchorwomen would just escape the Vikings and clinch the victory by winning the final set, 25-23.

• Marines posted 10 kills and a season-high 20 digs to complete her double-double. Lewis also registered 10 kills.

• The junior setter tandem of
Yuleisy Alvelo (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and
Paula Pesoa (Johnston, R.I.) combined for 29 assists.
