Providence, R.I.--Junior middle hitter
Andrayah Williams (North Providence, R.I.) posted 11 kills on 19 attacks and hit .579 as Rhode Island College kicked off the 2025 season with a 3-0 win over Fitchburg State at the Murray Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Falcons took control of the lead in the middle of the first set, 18-12, until the Anchorwomen rattled off four straight points to keep themselves alive.

• RIC trailed by five, 22-17, until Williams ignited a rally with a kill. Junior outside hitter
Marina Colonis (Waterford, Conn.) then took over from the service line as the hosts rattled off seven straight points to steal the frame. Colonis notched three aces during the run.

• Fitchburg State got out to an early, 10-4, advantage to begin the second stanza, but once again, the Anchorwomen made a run to tie the set at 12 apiece off a bad set by the visitors. The frame would remain neck-and-neck and was tied, 21-21. RIC put the set away with four straight points, keyed by two service aces by junior setter

• The third set was also a slugfest and tied, 20-20, before the Anchorwomen went on a 5-2 run to clinch the match. Junior outside hitter
Sarina Marines (Cranston, R.I.) poured in six kills in the final period.
• Marines finished with a double-double (13 kills, 17 digs), while Alvelo notched 23 assists and six service aces.
