Sarah Mickelson (New Milford, Conn.) went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI and a run scored as Rhode Island College fell in the first game of a Little East doubleheader vs. Plymouth State, 6-4, at the Dayna A. Bazar Softball Complex on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Panthers and the Anchorwomen held each other scoreless through three innings until the visitors struck first as a solo home run kick-started and four-run fourth frame.
• RIC got its offense going in the bottom of the sixth as sophomore left fielder
Melanie Earley (Lumberton, N.J.) notched an RBI single and fifth-year third baseman
Victoria Young (Sterling, Conn.) recorded an RBI groundout to pull the hosts within a pair, 4-2
• However, PSU struck back with what proved to be the game-deciding runs with a pair in the top of the seventh.
• With two down in the bottom of the seventh, Mickelson singled to right field to bring in two runs. The Anchorwomen loaded the bases, but the Panthers slammed the door on the comeback bid with a strikeout.

Amanda Conti (Lincoln, R.I.) went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
