THE BASICS

Ohio Northern (1-0)
Rhode Island College (1-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Young got the scoring started for the game in the bottom of the second, doubling to right field to give RIC a 1-0 advantage.

• Ohio Northern got one run back in the next half inning off a RIC wild pitch.

• The Polar Bears capitalized with runners on base in the top of the fifth, as a double scored two runners and a bunt scored another.

• Junior center fielder Sophia Crudale (Cranston, R.I.) brought the Anchorwomen deficit back to one with an infield single to plate Young.

• A sacrifice bunt and a single would be the difference makers as Ohio Northern scored two in the seventh. Crudale knocked in the Anchorwomen's last run with an RBI ground out in the seventh.

• Sophomore pitcher Ashleigh von der Linden (Stratham, N.H.) was dealt the loss (1-1), hurling six innings and striking out eight.

• Crudale went 1-for-4 with two RBI.
