Wittenberg Edges Anchorwomen, 3-1

Winter Haven, Fla.—Junior second baseman Noelle Simmons (Goffstown, N.H.) went 2-for-3 with the team's lone RBI as Rhode Island College fell, 3-1, vs. Wittenberg on Sunday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Wittenberg answered the call first in the bottom of the second with a single to right field.
 
• Both teams were in a defensive battle through the next three innings until the bottom of the fifth when the Tigers brought in a pair on back-to-back RBI singles.
 
• RIC's lone run came in the sixth a Simmons doubled in junior center fielder Sophia Crudale (Cranston, R.I.).
 
• A 1-2-3 seventh from the Tigers put the game to rest.
 
• Junior pitcher Gabby Cunha (Cranston, R.I.) suffered the loss (0-1). Senior pitcher Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) was impressive in relief, striking out nine in four innings of work.
