THE BASICS
Wheaton 12, Rhode Island College 3
Wheaton (9-7)
Rhode Island College (6-9)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchormen recorded a pair of runs to open the scoring in the second inning as a wild pitch brought Pierce to the plate to go along with a sacrifice fly RBI by junior center fielder Lucas McElroy (Westport, Mass.).

• The Lyons would not go away as a combined four runs in the second and third frames helped the hosts take a two run, 4-2, lead.

• Pierce notched his RBI in the fifth as he singled to left field, which brought home junior left fielder Dan Cascio (East Hampton, Conn.).

• That would be the last contribution for the Anchormen as Wheaton would go on a tear, posting eight runs over the course of the fifth through seventh frames.

• Fifth-year third baseman Cal Parillo (Greenville, R.I.) went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

• Senior pitcher Garrett Bolwell (Chepachet, R.I.) suffered up the loss (0-1).
