Deyshawn Tengbeh Scores His 1,000th Career Point in, 79-74, Win at Plymouth State

Plymouth, N.H.--Senior guard Deyshawn Tengbeh (East Providence, R.I.) notched his 1,000th career point as Rhode Island College defeated Plymouth State, 79-74, in Little East action played at Foley Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Panthers found success early by hitting a pair of jumpers to lead the visitors, 17-9, midway through the first half.
 
 • However, RIC would embark on a 10-2 run and tie the contest up at 19 apiece with 6:56 remaining before halftime.
 
• Freshman guard Jalen Claude (New Haven, Conn.) then knocked down a triple to give the Anchormen a three-point, 30-27, lead with 2:56 to play in the first 20 minutes.
 
• Junior guard Isaiah Dahl (Cornelius, Ore.) would then convert on back-to-back three-point attempts as RIC closed out the first half up by nine, 38-29.
 
• Tengbeh reached the milestone as he made a jumper with 2:50 remaining in regulation as the Anchormen led by 10, 71-61.
 
• The Panthers then made a late push as they trailed by three, 74-71, with 13 seconds left, but five clutch free throws from sophomore guard CJ Wilson (Hartford, Conn.) put the game away.
 
• Tengbeh finished with a game-high 26 points, grabbed nine boards and dished out six assists to cap off a career afternoon.
 
• Dahl was right behind him scoring 25 points and shot 7-for-11 (63 percent) from downtown.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East play at Western Connecticut on Wednesday, Feb. 22 (7 p.m.).
