Medbury's 23-Point Effort Paces Anchorwomen in, 64-58, Win at Eastern Connecticut

Willimantic, Conn.--Senior guard Madison Medbury (Scituate, R.I.) registered 23 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and four steals as Rhode Island College defeated Eastern Connecticut, 64-58, in Little East action played at Geissler Gymnasium on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchorwomen and the Warriors both battled to gain control of the first quarter, but it was RIC who grabbed the lead after 10 minutes, 13-11.
 
• Eastern Connecticut stuck with the visitors throughout the second frame, however, the Anchorwomen would go into the locker room with a four-point, 28-24, lead.
 
• The Warriors dug deep in the third, going on a 11-2 run and grabbing the lead, 39-37, with 2:43 remaining in the frame.
 
• RIC would then close out the stanza on an 8-2 run and headed into the final 10 minutes once again up by four, 45-41.
 
• The Anchorwomen held off the by holding a lead of at least two possessions throughout the fourth frame.
 
• Sophomore guard Meagan Schuermann (Cooperstown, N.Y.) recorded a double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds to pace RIC.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will close out the regular season at home vs. Keene State on Saturday, Feb. 22 (1 p.m.).
