Providence, R.I.—Senior guard
Tyriek Weeks (Warwick, R.I.) recorded a season-high 29 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks as Rhode Island College crushed UMass Dartmouth, 87-63, in the Little East opener at The Murray Center on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• A three-pointer from the Corsairs with 11 minutes remaining in the first half gave them the lead, 15-12, but it was the hosts who overcame a seven-point deficit to take the advantage back at the end of the half, 36-33.
• RIC built its largest lead of the game, 45-39, after junior guard
Xavier Mendez (Pawtucket, R.I.) drilled a three 4:30 into the second half.
• The Anchormen found a rhythm and went up by 10, 64-54, on a three by freshman guard
Noe Bom (Hamburg, Germany).
• The hosts never looked back and eventually raised their advantage to 20, 80-60, after senior guard
CJ Wilson (Hartford, Conn.) converted a layup off a cut to the basket.
• Mendez poured in a double-double of his own with 24 points and 12 rebounds to pace the Anchormen.
• Bom registered 17 points, four rebounds and four assists.
