Medbury Leads Anchorwomen Past Southern Maine, 60-51

Gorham, Maine--Senior guard Madison Medbury (Scituate, R.I.) posted 27 points, seven rebounds and four assists as Rhode Island College defeated Southern Maine, 60-51, in Little East action played at Hill Gymnasium on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Both teams struggled from the floor in the first quarter as the Anchorwomen found themselves ahead by three, 10-7, after 10 minutes.
 
• The Huskies applied the pressure to the visitors in the second frame as they took the lead, 17-15, with four and a half minutes to play in the first half.
 
• RIC would then anchor down and close out the half on a 13-2 run to post a nine-point, 28-19, lead at the break.
 
• The Anchorwomen dominated the third quarter and led by 16 points, 48-32, with a minute and a half left before the final stanza.
 
• Southern Maine outscored RIC, 16-10, in the fourth quarter, but the visitors held on for their sixth straight win.
 
• Senior forward Angelina Nardolillo (Hinsdale, N.H.) hauled down 18 rebounds.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East play at home vs. UMass Boston on Saturday, Feb. 1 (1 p.m.).
