Anchorwomen Roll Past Bridgewater State, 8-1, in Little East Opener

Providence, R.I.—Fifth-year Lauren Macera (Cranston, R.I.) paired with junior Erica Botelho (Greenville, R.I.) for an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles and then went on to win at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, as Rhode Island College opened Little East play with an 8-1 win over Bridgewater State at the RIC Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The matchup was a battle of two of the top three teams in the Little East.
 
• The hosts took all three doubles contests, led by fifth-year Amiah Sommer (Cumberland, R.I.) and senior Amara Devine (Greenville, R.I.) who won, 8-1, at No. 3 doubles.
 
• Devine won in straight sets at fifth singles and was followed by freshman Arianna De Thomas' (Providence, R.I.) victory at third singles to clinch the match.
