RIC Ends Season in, 10-9, 11-Inning Setback vs. Keene State at Little East Championship

Boston, Mass.—Sophomore third baseman Lucas McElroy (Westport, Mass.) went 5-for-7 with two runs scored and a pair of RBI as No. 6 Rhode Island College fell, 10-9 (11 innings), vs. No. 5 Keene State in game four of the 2024 Little East Baseball Championship on Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Anchormen were eliminated from the tournament and conclude their season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchormen built a 4-0 advantage through the first two innings. Senior left fielder Cole Podedworny (Wakefield, R.I.) had an RBI single in the first, while senior right fielder Sean Helfrich (Saunderstown, R.I.) walked with the bases loaded in the second.
 
• After freshman second baseman Parker Camelo (Bristol, R.I.) singled in a run in the bottom of the third to stake RIC to a 5-2 advantage, the Owls ripped off five runs in the top of the fourth to go up, 7-5.
 
• Not to be outdone, the Anchormen scored four times in the home half of the frame, capped by a two-run single from Camelo, to give RIC a 9-7 advantage.
 
• KSC scored twice in the eighth to force extra innings, and after a pair of scoreless frames, the Owls put across the game-winning run in the top of the 11th.
 
• Helfrich went 2-for-5 with a run scored, a sacrifice fly and three RBI. Camelo went 3-for-5 with a run scored, a double and three RBI.
 
• Senior reliever Harrison Mansfield (Uxbridge, Mass.) took the loss (2-3).
