Avery Katz (Brookfield, Conn.) went 1-fo-3 as No. 4-seeded Rhode Island College fell, 7-0, vs. No. 5-seeded Southern Maine in game one of the 2024 Little East Softball Championship, hosted by UMass Boston on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• With the Anchorwomen trailing, 3-0, in the fifth, RIC had runners on second and third with one down, but USM was able to cut down sophomore right fielder
Sophia Crudale (Cranston, R.I.) at home after a failed bunt attempt and then get a key fly out to end the threat.
