Providence, R.I.--Sophomore third baseman Lucas McElroy (Westport, Mass.) went 4-for-5 with two RBI as the Rhode Island College lost game one of a Little East doubleheader vs. VTSU Castleton, 10-9, at Pontarelli Field on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchormen exploded offensively in the second inning, scoring seven runs to take a 7-0 lead. Junior first baseman Daniel Trzepacz (Mont Vernon, N.H.) notched a two-run single in the frame.
 
• RIC increased its lead to eight runs, 9-1, on a McElroy sacrifice fly in the fifth inning.
 
• The Spartans would begin their comeback bid with a four-run seventh inning to cut the RIC lead down to four, 9-5.
 
• In the ninth inning, after an Anchormen error brought Castleton to within two runs, a three-run home run by Spartan right fielder Jackson Cardozo (Southington, Conn.) put the Spartans up, 10-9, and stunned the home team.
 
• Freshman second baseman Parker Camelo (Bristol, R.I.) went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored.
 
• Senior pitcher Harrison Mansfield (Uxbridge, Mass.) took the loss (2-1).
