Anchormen Drop Game Two at Eastern Connecticut

Willimantic, Conn.--Junior first baseman Daniel Trzepacz (Mont Vernon, N.H.) hit a two-run home run as Rhode Island College suffered a 10-4 loss at Eastern Connecticut in the second game of a Little East doubleheader played at ECSU Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After the Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Anchormen would score four runs in the third frame, much in part to the two-run home run hit by Trzepacz. Senior shortstop Izaiah Rivera (Pawtucket, R.I.) and sophomore second basemen Lucas McElroy (Westport, Mass.) would knock in the other two runs as the visitors built a 4-1 lead.
 
• It was all Eastern Connecticut from there on out. The hosts would tie the game in the fourth with a two-run double and then capture the lead in the sixth.
 
• Eastern Connecticut would score four runs in the eighth inning to extend its lead to 10-4 and ice the game.
 
• RIC freshman starting pitcher Casey Williams (Watertown, Mass.) hurled 5.2 innings in the loss (1-2).
 
• McElroy went 2-for-4, while freshman center fielder Justin Wardwell (Westport, Mass.) went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East play at home vs. Western Connecticut on Tuesday, April 9 (3:30 p.m.).
