Ashleigh von der Linden (Stratham, N.H.) picked up her first win, as Rhode Island College defeated UMass Boston, 8-0 (six innings), to complete a sweep in Little East action played at the Dayna A. Bazar Softball Complex on Friday afternoon.

• Freshman designated player
Reilly Austin (Cumberland, R.I.) put the hosts on top in the first with an RBI single.
• Conti and senior first baseman
Katelyn Ashe (Colchester, Conn.) brought in a pair with an RBI single and ground out, respectively, to give the Anchorwomen a 3-0 advantage after three.
• RIC got two more in the fourth as junior right fielder
Sarah Mickelson (New Milford, Conn.) scored on a failed pickoff attempt from third and Conti notched an RBI double.
• With one run across already in the bottom of the sixth, sophomore second baseman
Noelle Simmons (Goffstown, N.H.) cleared the bases with a double to end the game via the eight-run rule.
• Junior
Taylor Babcock (East Providence, R.I.) threw three innings before giving way to von der Linden in the fourth, who allowed just one hit to secure her first collegiate win (1-0).
• Senior center fielder
Avery Katz (Brookfield, Conn.) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a double, while Mickelson went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a double.
