Warriors Score Three in the Seventh to Defeat Anchorwomen, 5-4

Willimantic, Conn.--Senior center fielder Avery Katz (Brookfield, Conn.) went 1-for-3 with two RBI as Rhode Island College team game one of a Little East doubleheader vs. Eastern Connecticut, 5-4, at Washburne Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• A two-run single from Katz in the second inning gave RIC a 2-1 advantage. Eastern Connecticut would tie it, 2-2, in the bottom of the third.
 
• Sophomore second baseman Noelle Simmons (Goffstown, N.H.) and junior shortstop Amanda Conti (Lincoln, R.I.) each recorded RBI in the fourth and sixth innings, respectively, to stake the visitors to a 4-2 lead going into the seventh.
 
• The Warriors would steal the win by scoring three runs off of two singles in the bottom of the seventh inning.
 
• Junior pitcher Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) took the loss (16-2).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play the second game of its twinbill with the Warriors (5:30 p.m.).
