Warriors Edge Anchorwomen, 1-0, in Extra Innings

Willimantic, Conn.—Freshman pitcher Ashleigh von der Linden (Stratham, N.H.) went the distance and notched six strikeouts as Rhode Island College fell, 1-0 (eight innings), at Eastern Connecticut in Little East action played at Washburne Field on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The game was scoreless, with the Warriors loading the bases in the bottom of the seventh with one away. von der Linden struck out back-to-back batters to force extra innings.
 
• After a one out single in the eighth, an RBI double lifted the Warriors to its second walk-off win of the afternoon.
 
• Sophomore right fielder Sophia Crudale (Cranston, R.I.) went 1-for-3 and classmate second baseman Noelle Simmons (Goffstown, N.H.) went 1-for-4 to pick up the Anchorwomen's lone hits in the setback.

WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will close out the regular season with a Little East doubleheader at VTSU Castleton on Saturday, May 4 (1 p.m.).
