Marley Leads Anchorwomen in Loss vs. Southern Maine

Providence, R.I.—Junior midfielder Hannah Marley (Tiverton, R.I.) scored her 10th goal of the season while also contributing an assist, as the Rhode Island College lost, 17-3, vs. Southern Maine, 17-3, in Little East action played at Alumni Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Huskies raced out to a 5-0 lead over the first 10 minutes of play before freshman attacker Sophie DeFlitch (Hummelstown, Pa.) would score her team-leading 12th goal of the year to put RIC on the board with 3:55 to go in the first quarter.
 
• Southern Maine continued to dominate in the second quarter, scoring seven goals to take a 12-1 lead going into halftime.
 
• The Huskies used sound defense and strong offensive zone time to coast the rest of the way.
 
• RIC freshman goalkeeper Giana Franco (Salem, Conn.) made 10 saves in the loss (1-8).
 
• DeFlitch and fifth-year defender Shannon O'Connell (Narragansett, R.I.) each picked four ground balls.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East action at home with the regular season finale vs. Western Connecticut on Saturday, April 27 (noon).
