HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC tied the game, 1-1, in the first on an RBI sacrifice fly by senior designated player Katelyn Ashe (Colchester, Conn.).

• UMD sophomore left fielder Jill Walsh (Warwick, R.I.) broke the game open with a bases clearing double in the third to give the visitors a 5-1 advantage.

• Junior shortstop Amanda Conti (Lincoln, R.I.) brought in Katz with an RBI bunt single in the bottom of third and sophomore second baseman Noelle Simmons (Goffstown, N.H.) doubled in Katz in the fourth to cut the club's deficit down to two, 5-3.

• The Corsairs added two insurance runs, but for the second time in the twinbill, the Anchorwomen clawed their way back in their final at-bats. With two down, freshman first baseman Reilly Austin (Cumberland, R.I.) doubled in a run and then sophomore right fielder Sophia Crudale (Cranston, R.I.) knocked in two more with a double before UMD escaped with the win.
