Anchorwomen Take Down Falcons, 9-0

Providence, R.I.—Senior center fielder Avery Katz (Brookfield, Conn.) went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and a stolen base as Rhode Island College won game one, 9-0 (5 innings), of a doubleheader vs. Albertus Magnus at the Dayna A. Bazar Softball Complex on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The red-hot Anchorwomen put five runs across in the bottom of the first inning, highlighted by junior right fielder Abby Clesas' (Johnston, R.I.) two-run single.
 
• Senior first baseman Katelyn Ashe (Colchester, Conn.) registered an RBI single in the second and a two-run single in the fourth as the hosts were able to end the game early due to the eight-run rule.
 
• Junior pitcher Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) won her ninth game (9-0), allowing just two hits and striking out seven in five innings of work.
 
• Freshman catcher Brianna Bailey (Windsor, Conn.) went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
