Melanie Earley (Lumberton, N.J.) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a home run and three RBI as Rhode Island College raised its current win streak to 12 games with a 5-4 win over Western Connecticut to complete a doubleheader sweep at the Dayna A. Bazar Softball Complex on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Western Connecticut took its first lead of the afternoon with two runs in the first inning.
• The Anchorwomen used a four-run third as sophomore second baseman
Noelle Simmons (Goffstown, N.H.) brought in one with an infield single and Earley cleared the bases with a three-run shot.
• WestConn scored in the fourth and fifth to pull within a run. The visitors shot themselves in the foot in the top of the sixth. With runners on second and third and one out, the potential tying run was gunned down at the plate by junior shortstop
Amanda Conti (Lincoln, R.I.) and after a run down, Simmons cut down another Wolf trying to score to end the frame.
