Noelle Simmons (Goffstown, N.H.) went 1-for-2 with two RBI as Rhode Island College softball team defeated Roger Williams in the first game of a twinbill, 2-1, on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The game was a pitcher's duel, with both junior
Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) of the Anchorwomen and sophomore
Reagen Germano (Old Tappan, N.J.) of the Hawks each throwing seven complete innings.
• Roger Williams took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a throwing error from RIC.
• Simmons hit a single with two outs in the top of the sixth to plate a pair of Anchorwomen and secure a 2-1 lead.
• Kidd allowed only two hits and struck out 14 batters to earn the win (7-0).
