RIC Raises Win Streak to Six Games in Sweep at Johnson & Wales

Providence, R.I.—Senior first baseman Katelyn Ashe (Colchester, Conn.) doubled in a pair of runs as Rhode Island College came back from a 3-2 deficit to defeat Johnson and Wales, 4-3, and complete a doubleheader sweep on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Junior shortstop Amanda Conti (Lincoln, R.I) put RIC on top with an RBI ground out in the top of the first, but the Wildcats tied the game up in the home half of the frame.
 
• Ashe registered an RBI single in the third, but once again, JWU answered in its at-bat of the frame, this time scoring twice to go on top, 3-2.
 
• Freshman pinch hitter Reilly Austin (Cumberland, R.I.) doubled in the tying and go-ahead runs in the fifth and freshman reliever Ashleigh von der Linden (Stratham, N.H.) hurled three innings of scoreless relief to secure her first career save.
 
• Junior starter Taylor Babcock (East Providence, R.I.) picked up the win (3-0).
 
• Ashe went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double, while junior left fielder Sarah Mickelson (New Milford, Conn.) went 3-for-3.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at doubleheader at Salve Regina on Tuesday, March 26 (4 p.m.).
