HOW IT HAPPENED

• Freshman designated player Reilly Austin (Cumberland, R.I.) hit a two-run homer and Katz smacked a three-run blast as part of a seven-run eighth inning, which allowed the game to end early via the eight-run rule.

• Junior pitcher Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) was once again masterful, hurling a two-hit shutout, to go along with six strikeouts to pick up her sixth (6-0) win.

• Austin went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI.
