Avery Katz's Three-Run Homer Notches Fourth Straight Win for Anchorwomen

New London, Conn.--Senior center fielder Avery Katz (Brookfield, Conn.) went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run as the Rhode Island College defeated Mitchell, 10-2, in the second game of a twinbill to complete a sweep on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchorwomen registered a pair of RBI singles in the first inning courtesy of senior first baseman Katelyn Ashe (Colchester, Conn.) and freshman designated player Reilly Austin (Cumberland, R.I.).
 
• Katz would hit a three-run shot in the second inning to raise the visitor's lead to five runs, 5-0.
 
• A sophomore second basemen Noelle Simmons (Goffstown, N.H.) RBI fielder's choice would cap a three-run fifth inning by the Anchorwomen and end the contest early via the eight-run rule.
 
• Junior pitcher Taylor Babcock (East Providence, R.I.) earned the win (2-0) with two strikeouts over 4.1 innings of work.
 
• Austin went 3-for-3 with an RBI, while senior third baseman Victoria Young (Sterling, Conn.) went 1-for-2 with three runs scored.
 
• The Anchorwomen have won four straight games.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play a doubleheader at Johnson & Wales on Saturday, March 23 (1 p.m.).
