Madison Medbury Helps Anchorwomen Clinch Outright LEC Regular Season Championship on Senior Night

Providence, R.I.--No. 3-ranked Rhode Island College captured the outright Little East Women's Basketball Regular Season Championship in an 83-30 win over Eastern Connecticut at The Murray Center on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchorwomen were coming off an 80-41 win over Western Connecticut on Feb. 7, which saw the club claim at least a share of the LEC's Regular Season title and secure the No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament, which begins on Feb. 20.
 
• Junior guard Madison Medbury (Scituate, R.I.), along with her family, was honored prior to the game as part of Senior Night.
 
• The Anchorwomen shot 4-for-5 from three-point range in the first quarter to take a 23-12 lead after 10 minutes of play.
 
• The offense slipped a little in the second frame, as the hosts shot 5-for-19 from the field, but were still able to bring a 38-22 lead into halftime.
 
• The Anchorwomen defense was outstanding in the third quarter, holding the Warriors to just three points to propel RIC to a 56-25 lead after 30 minutes of play.
 
• The fourth quarter was near perfect, as the Anchorwomen outscored Eastern Connecticut, 27-5
 
• The 53-point margin of victory was the largest for the Anchorwomen this year.
 
• The win extends the Anchorwomen's win streak to 24 games and extends their home winning streak to 22 games.
 
• Medbury finished with 14 points, seven rebounds, six assists and five steals, while shooting a perfect 3-for-3 from long range.
 
• Junior forward Angelina Nardolillo (Hinsdale, N.H.) racked up 14 points, nine rebounds, two blocks and a steal. Fifth-year forward Izabelle Booth (Newport, R.I.) finished with 14 points, four boards, two steals and one block.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will close out the regular season with a  Little East game at Keene State on Saturday, Feb. 17 (1 p.m.).
