HOW IT HAPPENED
• Hodovanec and her family were recognized on Senior Day prior to the start of the match.
Â
• RIC would seize a lead in the first stanza, building an 18-12 advantage off back-to-back kills by junior middle hitter
Andrayah Williams (North Providence, R.I.).Â
Â
• The Wolves then would mount a comeback to tie the first set at 24 apiece, but were unable to turn the corner as RIC won the last two points to edge the visitors, 26-24.
Â
• The roles reversed in the second set as RIC trailed, 20-16, before a Hodovanec kill and service ace put the host's in the driver's seat and eventually secure a two-point, 25-23, win.
Â
• The third set would again go back and forth before a kill from freshman outside hitter
Olivia Rollinson (Coventry, R.I.) gave the Anchorwomen an extra spark to sweep the Wolves and win the set, 25-22.
Â
• Sophomore outside hitter
Sarina Marines (Cranston, R.I.) recorded a double-double with a team-high 11 kills and 14 digs.
Â
• Freshman defensive specialist
Daniella Escudero (East Providence, R.I.) finished with a team-high 24 digs. Williams registered nine kills, while sophomore setter
Yuleisy Alvelo (San Juan, Puerto Rico) posted a double-double with 35 assists and 13 digs.
Â
• The Anchorwomen had previously lost the last five matchups against the Wolves. RIC's last win against WestConn was a 3-0 sweep back in 2017.
