Wesley Perrotto (Pembroke, Mass.) made a huge save in penalty kicks, while the Anchormen scored on all five of their attempts, as No. 3 Rhode Island College advanced past No. 2 UMass Boston in the semifinals of the 2024 Little East Men's Soccer Championship played at BC High on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Beacons controlled the pace of play early in the first half, forcing Perrotto to come up huge and make a diving save off a UMB shot in the 17
th minute.

• RIC saw its first chance at a goal-scoring opportunity in the 43
rd minute as a free kick found the head of freshman midfielder
Nathan Capelo (Rumford, R.I.) and ricocheted off the crossbar before being cleared by the Beacon defense.

• Both teams struggled to find open chances as the two squad's battled for 90 minutes without a goal. Another quick 20 minutes passed during the overtime periods, which forced a penalty kick shootout.

Alijah Nunes (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago), while the hosts matched the effort with goals of their own.

Lucas Duquette (Wakefield, R.I.) put the visitors ahead, 4-3, and Perrotto made a diving stop to his right to put the Anchormen in position to advance.

• Capelo was the Anchormen's fifth penalty taker and made no error with a goal to the lower left of the net to send the Anchormen to the Little East Championship final.
