Sarina Marines (Cranston, R.I.) tallied her fifth double-double of the season with a match-high 17 kills and 11 digs as Rhode Island College swept Mass. Maritime, 3-0, at the Murray Center on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchorwomen dominated the first set as sophomore setter
Yuleisy Alvelo (San Juan, Puerto Rico) rattled off three service aces in a row to convincingly take the opener, 25-8.

• In a tightly contested second set, a pair of attack errors from the Buccaneers put RIC up by a pair, 21-19, to break the tie and eventually win, 25-21, as Marines ended it with a kill.

• RIC would take the third set, 25-14, as kills from both Marines and junior middle hitter
Sydnee Pires (Rochester, Mass.) escalated the Anchorwomen's momentum in the frame to complete the sweep.

• Senior outside hitter
Rhiannon Hodovanec (Feeding Hills, Mass.) notched a strong offensive effort with six kills and no errors on 13 attacks to put up a .462 hitting percentage on the night.

• Pires posted seven kills, while Alvelo finished with 27 assists. Freshman defensive specialist
Daniella Escudero (East Providence, R.I.) racked up 10 digs.

• It was the Anchorwomen's sixth shutout win of the season.
