Anchormen Fall, 2-1, in Heated Little East Battle With UMass Boston

Providence, R.I.--Junior forward Sekou Kamara (North Providence, R.I.) registered the only goal for the Anchormen as Rhode Island College lost a heated Little East contest vs. UMass Boston, 2-1, at Alumni Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS
UMass Boston 2, Rhode Island College 1
UMass Boston (4-1-4, 2-0-1 LEC)
Rhode Island College (7-2-1, 3-1 LEC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Kamara nearly got the scoring started in the 11th minute as his first shot just missed the lower corner and went wide.

• The Beacons found the back of the net in the 16th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Rhode Island College had not trailed in a game since its first contest of the season prior to the Beacons' marker.

• UMass Boston scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 51st minute off a header from senior defender Logan Erickson Potter (Swansea, Mass.) to put the visitors up, 2-0. The two-goal deficit was the largest RIC had faced this season.

• One minute later, Kamara would steal the ball at the top of the 18 and rifled in his team-leading sixth goal of the season to pull RIC within one, 2-1. He has four goals in the club's last four games.

• However, the scoring would stop there as both teams fought a physical battle throughout the game. Tensions boiled over in the final minute, resulting in a number of red cards. Eight cards, including three red cards, were issued on the afternoon.

• Senior goalkeeper Wesley Perrotto (Pembroke, Mass.) made five saves in the losing effort (5-2-1).
