Boston, Mass.--Graduate student guard Sophia Guerrier (Waltham, Mass.) scored a game-high 16 points, while also corralling in eight rebounds, as No. 3 Rhode Island College defeated UMass Boston, 71-55, in Little East women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS
No. 3 Rhode Island College 71, UMass Boston 55
Rhode Island College (20-0, 11-0 LEC)
UMass Boston (4-14, 2-9 LEC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Fifth-year forward Izabelle Booth (Newport, R.I.) scored six points in the first quarter as the hosts jumped out to a 23-5 Anchorwomen lead after the first 10 minutes.

• A layup by Guerrier with 1:12 remaining in the second quarter, which would bring her to the 10-point threshold, gave RIC a 38-13 lead, just before halftime.

• Back-to-back layups from fifth-year center Neleesha Meunier (Leominster, Mass.) helped give the Anchorwomen a 57-26 lead with 1:58 left in the third quarter.

• Despite the host's outscoring RIC, 27-12, in the fourth quarter, the massive lead was too much for UMass Boston as the third-ranked Anchorwomen increased their program-record win streak to 20 games.

• RIC swept the season series from UMB, having downed the Beacons, 90-40, at The Murray Center on Dec. 9, 2023.

• RIC has won 20 or more games in each of the last three seasons and in four of the last five campaigns.

• Fifth-year guard Jeniyah Jones (Randolph, Mass.) filled the stat sheet with 10 rebounds, seven points, five steals and three steals on the day.

• Booth added 10 points, six boards, two assists, one bock and a steal. Meunier ripped off eight points and four boards in 11 minutes off the bench.
