Li hsiu Hou (Kingston, R.I.) each came back from 1-0 first set deficits to win in three frames as the Rhode Island College women's tennis team fell, 6-3, vs. Salve Regina in each club's 2023 opener played at the RIC Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC senior
Lauren Macera (Cranston, R.I.) and sophomore
Erica Botelho (Greenville, R.I.) won the lone doubles match for the hosts, securing an 8-3 win at the No. 1 spot.
• Vygoder dropped her first set, 6-3, before winning the next two stanzas (6-2, 6-3) for a win at No. 4 singles.
• Hou lost, 6-4, in the opener, and then took sets three and four (7-5, 6-2) to win at No. 6 singles.
• Five of the six singles matches were decided in three sets.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at Colby-Sawyer's Jamboree on Sunday, Sept. 3.
