Corsairs Take Game Two to Complete Sweep

Dartmouth, Mass.--Freshman second baseman Noelle Simmons (Manchester, N.H.) went 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of runs scored as Rhode Island College fell, 3-2, vs. UMass Dartmouth in the nightcap of a Little East doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• UMD sophomore shortstop Larissa Piessens (Windham, N.H.) knocked in two on an infield single in the home half of the first.
 
• The visitors scored what proved to be the game-winning run an inning later on junior catcher Dyonna Rodas' (Warwick, R.I.) RBI single.
 
• Senior catcher Alexis Boyce (Wolcott, Conn.) singled in a run in the fourth and senior designated player Cassidy Schoen (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) pulled the visitors within a run with an RBI double in the sixth.
 
• UMD junior pitcher Kaitlyn Shirshac (Enfield, Conn.) struck out eight in a complete game win (10-0).
 
• RIC freshman starter Sam Bergantino (Coventry, R.I.) went the distance, striking out six, in a losing effort (1-6).
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East action with a doubleheader at home vs. Southern Maine on Tuesday, April 11 (4 p.m.).
