Victoria Young (Sterling, Conn.) went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and two triples as Rhode Island College took game one of a doubleheader, 6-2, vs. Southern Maine in Little East action played at the Dayna A. Bazar Softball Complex on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchorwomen jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third, led by senior catcher
Alexis Boyce's (Wolcott, Conn.) two-run triple.

• After USM plated a run in the four, RIC rattled off three straight. Young tripled in a run, then scored on a passed ball, as part of a two-run sixth.

Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) was outstanding, allowing just two runs on five hits to go along with eight punchouts, to secure her sixth win (6-5).

Lauren Merrill (Bethel, Maine) took the loss (5-5).

• Boyce went 1-for-1 with a run scored, two RBI, a triple and a pair of walks.
