Warriors Down Anchorwomen in Extra Innings, 5-3

Providence, R.I.—Junior first baseman Katelyn Ashe (Colchester, Conn.) went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a pair of RBI as Rhode Island College fell, 5-3, in eight innings vs. Eastern Connecticut in Little East action played at the Dayna A. Bazar Softball Complex on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC trailed, 3-0, heading into the bottom of the fifth. Ashe pulled the hosts within one, 3-2, with a two-run single to center field.
 
• Ashe walked in the seventh and scored the tying run on senior catcher Alexis Boyce's (Wolcott, Conn.) double to right field to force extra innings.
 
• A pair of RIC errors in the top of the eighth led to a pair of Warrior runs, which proved to be the difference.
 
• Sophomore pitcher Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) took the loss (9-7), allowing just one earned run on six hits, while striking out four, in eight innings of work.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play game two of its doubleheader vs. Eastern Connecticut (6 p.m.).
