Katelyn Ashe (Colchester, Conn.) smacked a two-run homer, as Rhode Island College completed a doubleheader sweep vs. Salem State with an 8-3 win in the nightcap played at the Dayna A. Bazar Softball Complex on Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The hosts built a 3-1 advantage, but the Vikings plated two in the fifth to knot the game, 3-3.
• Freshman second baseman
Noelle Simmons (Manchester, N.H.) tripled in two and Ashe followed with a longball as part of a five-run sixth to lead the Anchorwomen to victory.
• Freshman
Sam Bergantino (Coventry, R.I.) came on in relief and hurled three innings to pick up her fourth win (4-6). Between both contests, she registered four perfect innings of work with nine strikeouts.
• Ashe went 2-for-3 with a run scored, a double, home run and three RBI. Simmons went 1-for-2 with a run scored, a triple and two RBI.
• With the sweep, Rhode Island College has evened its record at .500 for the first time since March 4 (2-2).
