Kidd Strikes Out 12 in, 8-3, Win Over Plymouth State

Providence, R.I.—Junior center fielder Avery Katz (Brookfield, Conn.) went 4-for-4 and scored two runs as Rhode Island College took game one, 8-3, of a Little East doubleheader played at the Dayna A. Bazar Softball Complex on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC put across five runs in the first two innings thanks to three RBI by senior catcher Alexis Boyce (Wolcott, Conn.).
 
• PSU got two runs back in the third on a sophomore first baseman Mia Ly (Lowell, Mass.) double.
 
• Senior designated player Cassidy Schoen (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) helped put the game away with a two-run homer in the sixth.
 
• Sophomore pitcher Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.) struck out 12 to even her overall record (4-4).
 
• PSU sophomore starter Kate McGrath (Boston, Mass.) took the loss (3-2).
