Owls Blank Anchormen in Game One of LEC Twinbill

Rindge, N.H.—Senior left fielder Joey Coro (North Providence, R.I.) went 2-for-4 as the Rhode Island College offense mustered just five hits in a 2-0 setback vs. Keene State in game one of a Little East doubleheader played at Franklin Pierce's Pappas Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC senior starter Shaun Gamelin (West Kingston, R.I.) matched his career-high with 16 strikeouts over eight innings in a complete game effort. He allowed just two runs on two hits and walked a pair in the loss (4-1).
 
• Freshman second baseman Lucas McElroy (Westport, Mass.) went 2-for-3 for the visitors.
 
• The Owls were only able to get to Gamelin in the bottom of the seventh as senior first baseman Josh Beaton (Pittsford, Vt.) and graduate right fielder Brendan Eaton (Nottingham, N.H.) each doubled in a run.
 
• KSU freshman starter Jake Jachym (Westfield, Mass.) struck out eight and allowed five hits in a complete game win (1-2).
