Noelle Simmons (Manchester, R.I.) drew a bases loaded walk to lead Rhode Island College past Worcester State, 6-5, in game one of a doubleheader played at the Dayna A. Bazar Softball Complex on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Lancers took a 2-0 lead on a two-run single by freshman third baseman
Bella Gasbarro (Leominster, Mass.) in the top of the first.

• RIC tied the game, 2-2, on a freshman left fielder
Sophia Crudale (Cranston, R.I.) RBI single in the third.

• Senior catcher
Alexis Boyce (Wolcott, Conn.) and junior center fielder
Avery Katz (Brookfield, Conn.) gave the hosts a 4-2 advantage with RBI singles in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively.

• Worcester State scored three runs in the top of the seventh to hold a one-run, 5-4, lead heading into the bottom of the frame.

• RIC loaded the bases with no outs and got back-to-back RBI walks by sophomore right fielder
Paige Jones (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and Simmons to notch the club's third straight win.

• Boyce went 2-for-2 with a run scored and two RBI. Crudale went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
