Worcester State 3, Rhode Island College 1
Worcester State (17-9)
Rhode Island College (10-12)
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
• In what was a pitchers' duel for most of the game, WSU grabbed a run in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead.
Â
• In the fifth inning, the Lancers worked some two-out magic and were able to drive in a run via a double.
Â
• Katz also produced with two outs, cutting the Lancer lead in half, 2-1, after a base knock right up the middle to bring in RIC's first and only run in the fifth.
Â
• Worcester State was able to get an insurance run in the sixth as the pitching settled in and blanked the Anchorwomen the rest of the way.
Â
• Katz got one of only three RIC base hits.
Â
• Freshman pitcher
Gabby Cunha (Cranston, R.I.) pitched well despite the loss (1-1).
