Raleigh, N.C.--Freshman catcher Shannon Timmons (Northbridge, Mass.) knocked in the winning run on her first collegiate hit as the Rhode Island College softball team came from behind to defeat Marymount University, 8-7, at the Grand Slam Triangle classic on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Marymount scored four runs off of a grand slam in the first inning, putting RIC in a hole early. The Anchorwomen were able to pick up one run in the bottom of the inning.
 
• MU was able to add runs in the third and fourth, while RIC grabbed two runs in the fourth, to pull within three, 6-3.
 
• In the sixth inning, the Saints homered again, giving them a four-run cushion. The Anchorwomen flattened that cushion in the bottom of the frame, scoring off of home runs from junior center fielder Avery Katz (Brookfield, Conn.) and freshman second baseman Noelle Simmons (Manchester, N.H.) to tie up the game.
 
• In the bottom of the seventh, Timmons singled into center field, bringing in sophomore pitcher Abby Kidd (Granby, Conn.), to walk off with the comeback victory.
 
• Kidd came on in relief for the final two innings to earn her first win of the season (1-2), striking out every batter she faced.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will face Pfeiffer at Grand Slam Triangle Classic on Sunday, March 5 (10 a.m.).
