HOW IT HAPPENED
• RIC got the first run on an RBI single by junior designated hitter Cole Podedworny (Wakefield, R.I.) in the second inning.

• Both teams' offenses remained quiet until the Anchormen put up a crooked number in the fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run homer by sophomore catcher Lucas Pierce (Chepachet, R.I.). RIC was up, 5-0, after four innings.

• Gordon was able to load the bases with no one out in the top of the eighth inning. RIC senior pitcher Colin Gauthier (Pawtucket, R.I.) came on and proceeded to strike out each of the three Fighting Scots he faced to keep the visitors off the scoreboard.

• With the game well in hand, RIC exploded for six runs in the eighth inning, capped off by a pinch hit, walk-off, three-run homer by freshman Liam Flynn (Charlestown, R.I.) to end the game early due to the 10-run rule. It was his first homer of his career.

• Podedworny went 2-for-3 with a double, walk and a pair of RBI on the day.

• Gordon senior center field Ben Chase (Hudson, Mass.) picked up the lone Gordon hit on the evening.

• Davey earned the win (3-0) with seven strikeouts. It was his 20th career victory.

• Gordon freshman pitcher Brett Moore (Gloucester, Mass.) got the loss (0-3).
