Kourouma Scores 26 as Anchormen End Season in, 78-75, Overtime Loss at Plymouth State

Plymouth, N.H.--Junior center Ousmane Kourouma (Woonsocket, R.I.) racked up 26 points and a game-high 16 rebounds as Rhode Island College closed out the 2022-23 season with a 78-75 overtime loss at Plymouth State in Little East men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The hosts built a seven-point, 15-8, advantage with 11:59 left in the first half on a junior guard Alex Dean (Reading, Mass.) three-pointer.
 
• The visitors battled back to take a three-point, 34-31, lead into halftime.
 
• A PSU graduate guard Tom Johnson (Warner, N.H.) trey gave the Panthers a 50-43 lead with 12:45 left in the game.
 
• Kourouma tied the game, 52-52, with 9:12 remaining in regulation.
 
• The hosts led by eight, 65-57, with just under five minutes left, but the Anchormen battled back to climb within a point, 68-67, with 44 seconds remaining.
 
• Kourouma grabbed a rebound and was fouled as time expired. He hit his first free throw, but missed his second attempt, as the game went into overtime.
 
• The Panthers went up by two, 77-75, on a senior guard Giorgi Tsiklauri (Brooklyn, N.Y.) jumper with two seconds left and junior forward Christian Barr (Henniker, N.H.) sank a free throw with a second left to lift the Panthers to victory.
 
• RIC freshman guard Anthony Rivera (Staten Island, N.Y.) registered 18 points, six boards, four assists and four steals.
 
• Johnson led all scorers with 30 points, while Tsiklauri (14) and Barr (11) also reached double figures.
