Lauren Macera (Cranston, R.I.) clinched a 5-2 win for No. 2-seeded Rhode Island College over No. 6-seeded Western Connecticut in the semifinals of the 2023 Little East Women's Tennis Championship on Thursday afternoon at the RIC Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Wolves took a 2-1 lead after doubles, with RIC senior
Amiah Sommer (Cumberland, R.I.) and junior
Amara Devine (Greenville, R.I.) earning an 8-5 win for the hosts at the No. 2 spot.
• The Anchorwomen ripped off four straight singles wins to clinch the match. Senior
Anna Vygoder (Lincoln, R.I.) won at No. 4 (6-2, 6-0), Sommer won at No. 3 (6-2, 6-1) and Devine won at No. 5 (6-1, 6-1) before Macera closed out the match at No. 1 (6-2, 6-1).
• RIC is playing in the Little East finals for the eighth consecutive season (and nine of the last 10).
WHAT'S NEXT
• In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to No. 1-seeded UMass Boston on Saturday, Oct. 21 (TBA) for a rematch of last season's Little East Championship Final.
• The Beacons downed RIC, 7-2, in the two clubs' regular season meeting on Oct. 8.
