Maya Benedict (Tempe, Ariz.) was outstanding between the posts, making a career-high 13 saves, as Rhode Island College defeated UMass Dartmouth, 2-1, in Little East women's soccer action played at Cressey Field on Wednesday night.

• UMD dominated the first half, outshooting the Anchorwomen, 9-3. Benedict kept the visitors in the game with five saves.

• To open up the second half, RIC scored on a breakaway 45 seconds in. Senior defender
Audra Gracia (New Bedford, Mass.) broke in from the left side after a pass by freshman forward
Tayshia Cary (Wakefield, R.I.) and tied the game up, 1-1.

• Benedict did her part, stopping eight shots over the final 45 minutes to keep the game deadlocked.

Tayla Salome (Lincoln, R.I.) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal. She stole an errant pass from UMD senior goalkeeper
Kat Hubbard (Haverhill, Mass.) and scored her first goal in an Anchorwoman uniform.

• Benedict picked up her second win (2-5) of the season.

• Hubbard made five saves and was saddled with the loss (3-4). Sophomore
Madison Durkin (Cumberland, R.I.) came on in the 73
rd minute and stopped one shot.
