Women's Tennis Opens Little East Play With, 9-0, Win Over Bridgewater State

Providence, R.I.--Senior Jenna Lisi (Cranston, R.I.) earned wins in both No. 1 singles (6-1, 6-0) and No. 1 doubles (8-2), while classmate Serena Bobola (Cranston, R.I.) clinched the match as the Rhode Island College women's tennis team defeated Bridgewater State, 9-0, in Little East action played at the RIC Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Anchorwomen took care of business in doubles, blanking the Bears, 3-0. Bobola and freshman Erica Botelho (Greenville, R.I.) paired for an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles.
 
• After a straight set Lisi win at the top spot, Bobola secured the victory for RIC with a shutout at No. 6 singles (6-0, 6-0).
 
• Junior Amiah Sommer (Cumberland, R.I.) gutted through a tough battle with BSU junior Allison Carter (Raynham, Mass.) (5-7, 7-6, 10-8) to secure the shutout for the hosts.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at the University of Saint Joseph on Thursday, Sept. 22 (4 p.m.).
